Shop minimum tattoo

Ok here we go arguably the question we get asked most often as a tattoo shop, ‘What is your shop minimum tattoo?’
So what is a shop minimum tattoo and why does it exist? Depending on where you live a tattoo shops minimum tattoo price will vary. If you live in a big city as opposed to a small town somewhere the shop minimum will probably be higher. It’s important to point out that the same will probably hold true for most consumer goods and services which is to say that this is not a tattoo specific phenomenon. And so again is the question, what is a tattoo shop minimum and why does it exist? If you’re like most people these days you grab your smart phone and start dialing tattoo shop after tattoo shop asking this same question and notice that most shops have a similar shop minimum rate , give or take 10-20$, and while most rates are created equal, the tattoo studios themselves are not. To think otherwise is probably the biggest mistake you can make while researching where to get your next tattoo.
The tattoo shop minimum rate simply stated is a small fee that covers the tattoo studios , and tattoo artists, overhead. Whether you’re looking for large scale intricate tattoo work or the simplest and smallest little dot tattoo, the basic setup for said service is basically the same.

Gone are the days where tattoo parlors reused, or even recycled, tattoo needles so it doesn’t matter if the tattoo needles were used for an eight hour session or an eight second tatt, they all need to be disposed of professionally just the same.
An important point to make is that you’re not gonna be comparing apples to apples. If most shops are giving you a certain shop minimum range ,say 80$, and suddenly you call a shop claiming to be able to do your tattoo for 20$ my best advice to you is that you delete that number and run lol . Like most things if it sounds to good to be true it probably is. What’s likely happening there nine times out of ten is that you’ll be getting your tattoo done by a first or second month tattoo apprentice that has absolutely no business tattooing anything other than a grapefruit!

Another very important point worth making is to keep in mind that everything’s a negotiation folks.
I can’t tell you how difficult it is to have a tattoo consultation by phone , text or email

One final bit of advice-

To get the best possible deal on your tattoo,to get the best tattoo rates under the sun:

Show up in person and speak to a tattoo artist🙂

And please do not start the conversation with the wrong outlook. If you have it in your head that people are out to get you and you project that outwardly to the tattoo artists that you talk to the honest truth is likely they won’t want to work with you either.

Established, professional tattoo studios will not treat you unfairly
